is a graduate student working with Karen Garrett.


Junhua Bai

is an Assistant Researcher at the Huailai Remote Sensing Test Site at the Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth at the Chinese Academy of Science in Beijing.  He arrived in December 2016 to work with Gerrit Hoogenboom.


Ole Bergesen

is a Research Fellow Department of Industrial Economics, Risk Management and Planning, University of Stavanger, Norway. He arrived in August 2017 for a year as an ISFS visiting scholar working on innovation research on aquaculture and econometrics.


Mohammad Hassan Fallah

is a PhD Candidate from Ferdowski University of Mashhad, Iran who arrived in April 2017 for a 6 month collaboration with Dr. Hoogenboom in crop yield - climate interaction, especially yield gap analysis and climate change impacts.


James C. Fulton

is a graduate student working with Karen Garrett.


Yujing Gao

began as a graduate student working on crop modeling with Gerrit Hoogenboom in August, 2016.


Dr. Kwang Soo Kim

is a visiting scientist from Seoul National University who arrived on a sabbatical July 25, 2016; he is working with Gerrit Hoogenboom.


Ursula Landazuri-Tveteras

is a Research Fellow in the Department of Industrial Economics, Risk Management and Planning, University of Stavanger, Norway.  She studies salmon market price transmission in the salmon supply chain and arrived in August 2017 for a one year visit to ISFS.


Xiaolin Li

is a PhD candidate at China Agricultural University. She arrived in September 2017 for a year visit to work with Gerrit Hoogenboom on modeling crop production and water productivity impact studies.


Baohua Liu

is a PhD student at China Agricultural University. She arrived in September 2017 for a year visit to work with Gerrit Hoogenboom. She will be using DSSAT to compare tradeoffs among maize yield potential, yield gap, and limiting factors between China and the US, as well as the impact of climate change on maize productivity and pathways for adapatation.



Patricia Moreno Cadena

began work as a graduate student with Gerrit Hoogenboom and Senthold Asseng in August, 2016. Her research involves the development of an intercropping model of cassava and maize as part of a joint project with IITA and CIAT.


Olegario Muniz

Joined our group as a visiting scholar in April 2017 to collaborate with Dr. Sanchez for one year.  Dr. Muniz is a Senior Researcher at the Soil Institute of Havana, Ministry of Agriculture, in Cuba.  He is a Senior Member of the Cuban Academy of Science and has published 110 papers and 4 books on soil fertility, heavy metals pollution, micronutrients, and soil management.


Willingthon Pavan

Joined our group as a visiting scholar in January 2017 to collaborate with Dr. Hoogenboom for one year.  Dr. Pavan is a Professor in Applied Computing at the University of Passo Fundo, Brasil. Dr. Pavan is working to couple crop and disease models using a variety of computational approaches.  He is developing monolithic and fully coupled crop models, integrating both the DSSAT platform and a generic disease model. He earned his PhD in agronomy (phytopathology) at the University of Passo Fundo, and completed post-doctoral training at UF (2008-2009), where he developed solutions to help growers and stakeholders make decisions.


Ravin Poudel

is a graduate student working with Karen Garrett.

Sigbjorn Tveteras

is a Professor in the Department of Industrial Economics, Risk Management and Planning, University of Stavanger, Norway. He is visiting ISFS for a year and arrived August 2017. He studies international seafood trade and food security, with additional work on sustainability, pricing, and consumer behavior. Website >


Omer Vanli

is a graduate student visiting from Turkey for  months. He arrived in August 2017 to work with Gerrit Hoogenboom.

Jinghua Xie

is an associate professor at the University of Tromso in Norway. She arrived in July 2017 to work with Frank Asche.  Dr. Xie has focused her research on seafood production and markets. More infomation from her home institution is available here.


Congmu Zhang

began as a graduate student working on crop modeling with Gerrit Hoogenboom in August, 2016.
